CMCT helps over 300 families of HIV/AIDS patients across three districts of Tamil Nadu. The main goal of the program is to help patients cope with the trauma that is often associated with the disease, alongside their ongoing treatment. Professional counsellors work with the patients, their families and the immediate community on a regular basis to boost their morale and protect them against ostracism.
A number of income generation activities like soap making, candle making, tailoring, handicrafts, jewellery making etc have been introduced to boost the morale of the patients and empower them to become self-reliant. Two Self-Help Groups (SHGs) for women have also been introduced. Those who are physically weak are supported with rations and nutritious drinks.
