The community development project at Chinnakuppam stemmed from the desire to help families that had been struck by the tsunami of 2004. With the generous contribution of donors, CMCT was able to build 140 houses, a welfare center, a medical center, sewing center, creche, community hall and two blocks of public toilets. Every house was built keeping in mind the specifications of the government.

Social workers visit the village twice a week. A daily creche looks after young kids while the parents earn their livelihood. A tailoring and handicraft unit equips young girls and women with the skills they need to contribute to their family income. In short, the adopted village has evolved into a model community.
