The Handicraft Center is possibly one of CMCT’s most successful self-supporting programs. About 70 women earn their livelihood by producing beautiful handicrafts which are shipped across the world. The proceeds from the sales contribute to the women’s salary as well as in procuring raw materials and training more young women and girls.
The women are trained in various kinds of embroidery, patch work, designing, jewellery making and machine work, after which they are given an opportunity to appear for a government exam. While many of them choose to work with CMCT, others choose to work in related fields and industries such as garments and textiles. Several girls also work independently and contribute to their family’s income.
